حصل الجراح الأردني الدكتور سهيل يوسف بكار الاختصاصي في جراحة الغدة الدرقية والغدد الصم على شهادة الدكتوراه في علوم الغدة الدرقية من جامعة بيزا الإيطالية التي تعتبر من اعرق جامعات أوروبا (تأسست عام ١٣٤٣)، وتعتبر الأولى عالمياً على صعيد علوم الغدة الدرقية وجراحتها.
يأتي هذا الإنجاز ثمرة تطوير الدكتور بكار وعلى مدار ٣ سنوات اداة تشخيصية أوجدت حلولاً علاجية فعالة لصنف من تدرنات الغدة الدرقية التي يصعب اتخاذ القرار العلاجي الأمثل بشأنها. وقد قام الدكتور بكار بعرض هذا العمل في حفل خاص أقيم في كلية الطب بجامعة بيزا في ١٤/١٢/٢٠١٨.
وقد اشاد العلماء في مجال أمراض الغدة الدرقية في جامعة بيزا بالدور الريادي الذي قام به بكار وأهميته في خدمة المرضى في إيطاليا وتبعات هذا العمل الإيجابية على المرضى في الاردن والشرق الأوسط. كما ثمنوا الدور الذي قام به بكار في تعزيز التعاون الأكاديمي بين الاردن وإيطاليا وتطلعهم لاستمرار هذا التعاون مستقبلاً.
وبهذا يكون الدكتور سهيل بكار اول جراح اردني متخصص في جراحة الغدة الدرقية يحصل على درجة الدكتوراه الأكاديمية Ph D فيها والمعترف بها عالمياً.

1/5/2017 was an important day to Jordan; it marked the opening of the first Specialized Endocrine Surgery Clinic headed by an world expert in the field Dr Sohail Bakkar. Jordan has now become one of few countries in the world that offers videoscopic thyroid and parathyroid surgeries.

Dr Bakkar was part of a team that performed Conventional thyroidectomy using innovative surgical energy-based sealing devices, Minimally Invasive Video-Assisted Thyroidectomy (MIVAT) and Minimally Invasive Video-Assisted Parathyroidectomy (MIVAP)

Dr Bakkar is a faculty of the Medical Expert Training in Thyroidectomy course (best practice sharing of clinical experience in thyroidectomy, complication management with tips and tricks on how to avoid pitfalls, minimally invasive video-assisted thyroidectomy (MIVAT): surgical technique, video demonstration of conventional thyroidectomy (CT) and MIVAT, Vessel sealing technology, and live demonstration of MIVAT and CT).

الروحي لجراحة الغدة الدرقية بالمنظار البروفيسور باولو ميكولي في منزل السفير الأردني في إيطاليا/ روما، سعادة السيد فايز خوري ومنحه شهادة سفير جراحة الغدة الدرقية بالطرق المعاصرة وذلك لتميزه العلمي والعملي وإسهامه في تطور جراحة الغدة الدرقية عالمياً، وبحضور نخبة من الأطباء الإيطاليين والاردنيين
